Fire Safety & Building Evacuation Training

Fire Safety Training Diskin Fire have during the past year updated and streamlined our range of Fire Safety Training courses. These courses have been redesigned by Alan & David Diskin and are now presented in the Powerpoint format. They are designed in such a way as to make them suitable for adapting to any of our clients needs / requirements.

These courses are designed to give the participants a knowledge of the threat posed by fire, of fire prevention and fire fighting equipment and the procedure to be adopted should an outbreak of fire occur. The longer courses obviously give a more in depth coverage of these aspects.

Certificates of attendance are issued to all course participants. The following is a list of the standard programmes and their content, that we can offer:-

A. Fire Safety Briefing - One hour course.

1. INTRODUCTION TO FIRE.
2. FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES.
3. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND THEIR USES.
4. DVD on "Extinguishing fire in the workplace".
5. DEMONSTRATION IN THE CORRECT USE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS (indoor - no actual fire used).

B. Fire Safety Briefing and Extinguisher Demonstration:- One and a half hour course.

1. INTRODUCTION TO FIRE.
2. FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES.
3. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND THEIR USES.
4. LEGISLATION.
5. DVD on "Extinguishing fire in the workplace".
6. OUTDOOR DEMONSTRATION IN THE CORRECT USE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS WITH A LIVE FIRE.

C. Fire Safety Training for all:- Two hour course

1. INTRODUCTION TO FIRE.
2. FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES.
3. DVD on "Action in the Event of Fire"
4. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND THEIR USES.
5. LEGISLATION in relation to fire safety.
6. DVD on "Extinguishing fire in the workplace".
7. OUTDOOR DEMONSTRATION IN THE CORRECT USE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS WITH A LIVE FIRE.

D. Fire Safety for Fire Wardens / Marshalls:- Four hour course:

- 1. INTRODUCTION TO FIRE.
2. FIRE SAFETY PROCEDURES.
3. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND THEIR USES.
4. LEGISLATION in relation to fire safety.
5. DVD on "Extinguishing fire in the workplace".
6. THE DUTIES OF THE FIRE WARDEN.
7. DVD on "The Role of the fire warden".
8. A WALK THROUGH OF THE PREMISES. (Identifying fire points, fire alarm call points, escape routes and potential fire hazards)
9. HANDS ON TRAINING IN THE CORRECT USE OF PORTABLE HAND HELD FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.

E. Evacuation Drill Exercise:-

This comprise of a pre-drill inspection and report, followed by the management of an actual evacuation exercise. The Exercise is arranged as follows:-

1. Notify the fire brigade that a drill is taking place.
2. Sound the alarm taking a note of the exact time and check all alarm horns.
3. Check with the Fire Wardens at each Assembly Point that all staff and visitors are present.
4. Note the time taken to complete the evacuation drill and the checklist is completed, accordingly.
5. Have the Fire Alarm silenced and reset and inform Fire Wardens the building is safe to re-enter.
6. Discuss with the Fire Wardens and Employer how the exercise went and how it can be improved.
7. Oversee or make a brief report entry into the Fire Record Log Book.
